Methods & limits

Safe redaction is reviewable and hard to mis-send—not visually clever

Solid blackout replaces target pixels and is appropriate for IDs, keys, and addresses. Mosaic and blur only reduce legibility and may still be inferred by people or software.

Download stays disabled with zero redactions to reduce accidental sharing of the original. Reopen the export in your system gallery and zoom in; a scaled preview can hide missed edges.

Rectangles are stored in source-image proportions; export redraws the original canvas and flattens every redaction.

Is mosaic safer than blur?

Neither is as reliable as solid blackout. Use opaque blocks for sensitive text, keys, and identity data.

Can I undo a redaction?

Yes. Undo the latest rectangle or clear them all. Rectangular selection keeps the tool usable on touch screens.

Does redaction remove photo location?

Canvas export normally omits EXIF. Use Share Check if you specifically need a metadata scan report.
